Bordeaux
Bordeaux is still the best known wine producing region in the world but it is beginning to look nervously over its shoulder at some newly emerging wine producing Countries and up and coming French regions.
This is why we have introduced many wines from these lesser known areas, areas that are challenging Bordeaux's leadership.
We predict that whilst the well known Crus classe wines will continue to be supported many of the lesser know ones will be overtaken both in price and quality.
Main Grape Varieties
Reds
Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot.
These are the only grapes for Bordeaux wines, with the main combination Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. These others usually represent a small proportion to give their own characteristics in the blending process.
Whites
Semillon, Muscadelle and Sauvignon Blanc.
Bordeaux is best known for its sweet / dessert wines, for example the delicious Sauternes.
